Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviews the presentation regarding MSME weavers scheme

Lucknow | In an effort to improve the productivity of over 2.5 lakh weavers in Uttar Pradesh and boost economic growth, the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that power subsidy should be provided for looms. “Power Corporation should make arrangements to provide subsidy to the weavers. This will even prevent power theft,” he said. While reviewing the presentation regarding the MSME Weaver Scheme, the CM had a detailed discussion with the officials regarding the consumption of electricity and the subsidy provided. The Chief Minister said that in the prominent centres related to the weaving business of the state like Ambedkar Nagar, Varanasi, Mau, Gorakhpur, Meerut, among others, communication should be established with the leading weavers and businessmen and their opinions should be taken. The Chief Minister said that the scheme of electricity consumption for weavers should be taken forward in the direction of solar power by linking it with net billing. “Currently, we are giving subsidies of up to Rs 30,000 for installing solar panels. Weavers must be encouraged similarly and work should progress on mission mode. It should be ensured that the power corporation gets the price of power consumption in any case,” he added. The CM also emphasised that the weavers should be encouraged to upgrade their products and designs and that they must adopt new technologies to suit present-day needs.
